Darren Oliver - Get me my Money!

This is just going to be a quick hit here, but the rumor out in the baseball world is that Darren Oliver who signed a 1 year contract with the Blue Jays last year with a team option for a second year has made it known to the Blue Jays that the only way he would be interested in returning to the Blue Jays and honoring the team option that was picked up would be if the Blue Jays re-negotiated his final year of the contract to offer him more money!

Right now I think the Jays should let him sit out! What's happened to honoring your contract?  Why even put your name on the contract with the option for a second year if you have no intention on fulfilling it?  Wouldn't it be great if AA could go to Ricky Romero and say " Ricky,  you really didn't have that great a year last year, so this upcoming year were only going to pay you half of your contract"

Given Oliver's number this past year were amazing and he's still one of the premier LH bullpen arms in the game, the Jays cannot be held hostage anymore by players or managers.

*The other rumor is that Oliver would welcome a trade to the Texas Rangers, a team closer to home. Well wouldn't it be hilarious if given that the Rangers just signed Jason Frasor the Jays and the Rangers worked out a trade that would send Frasor back to the Jays for Oliver?
