5 Thoughts on the Toronto Blue Jays - Playoff Bound Edition

Well there you have it! 22 regular seasons of baseball in Toronto have come and gone since the last time that the Toronto Blue Jays have qualified for the baseball playoffs and finally The Toronto Blue Jays are on their way back!

5 thoughts from a great weekend and a Monday evening in Toronto Baseball!

1.  Kevin Pillar is the American League Player of the Week!  There's a phrase I can honestly say I wasn't going to be typing 5 months ago!  All kidding aside, Good on him.  Dude has been unreal this year for a guy who was maybe going to be the 4th outfielder on this team.   Love the hustle, love the heart and he's looking like he may be turning into a nice hitter as well!

2. I want to Party with Mark Lowe!  Dude looks like the kinda of Guy that would get you into a boat load of trouble!  Amazing!  #beerfacial

3. So as it sits right now the Blue Jays have a magic number of 2 going into Tuesday's game against the Orioles.  If the Jays win and the Yanks loose, the Blue Jays will win the AL East!  Yes,  I would have loved for the Jays to clinch the AL East back in Toronto!  The party would have been unreal and I'm pretty sure the City may have been burnt to the ground given all the pent up angst among Toronto Sports fans over the past 23 years, but since they did not, I hope to dear God they get it done while they are in Baltimore so the Orioles and Buck Showalter have bare witness to it and they burn that visiting club house to the ground.  FU Buck Showalter! FU! #familyblog

...Just thought of this....Do you think the possibility of watching the Blue Jays celebrate in his team's building hurt that much more for Dan Duquette?

4. I love that AA is getting so much love lately from Fans, Media and the Team for the job he's done this year and it is well worth it, but I am really hoping that Gibby starts to feel some of that Love too.  With this trip into the post season he's 1 of only three Managers to bring the Blue Jays to the Postseason.  Dude deserves some appreciation.  GIVE HIM APPRECIATION.......Hey remember when Buck Martinez was the Manager?  Ye me either......

5. As of Monday the Jays have 91 wins!  That's 2 more than I predicted at the start of the year and they still have 6 more games to play.  What an unreal season.... I don't think anyone could have really predicted a season like the one that has played out in front of us, and with all that being said I think however it plays out we are still in for one hell of a ride.  God Damn it's fun to be a Toronto Blue Jays fan right now!

5 Thoughts on Toronto Blue Jays Baseball - Off Day Edition

Hi!  So.....The Blue Jays are still really good at Baseball, and that's nice!  Here are 5 things that have crossed my mind about those aforementioned Toronto Blue Jays Baseball club!

1. MAGIC NUMBERS are fun to follow!  I remember back in the day when I was much younger but still as handsome stealing the paper from my Dad and rummaging through the sports section in late summer to follow along with what the Blue Jays magic number was to make the Playoffs.  It was part of my daily routine to follow the numbers as they got lower and lower each day. It seems a little silly right now, but it was something that brought me joy to follow along.  Funny how baseball finds ways to remind you of being a kid even in some of the most unsuspecting ways!

2. Marcus Stroman is a BEAST!  Him coming back to the Blue Jays line-up and preforming the way he has through 3 starts so far is not only remarkable, but I can't think of a single other team that is in the midst of a playoff race right now that's able to add a talent like Stroman to their roster at this point in the season!  #gamechanger

3. Tired to get playoff tickets today!  It didn't go so well!  To be honest it's probably for the best.  Last time I had one of my favorite teams in a final was 2009 when my Penguins won the Cup in game 7. I watched that final game by myself and was such a nervous wreck that I paused the game through the most intense moments just to calm myself down! Good Times

4. Here's something that's Amazing!  Next year the Blue Jays starting 9 is pretty much going to be the exact same!  Sure the rotation is going to be quite different, but i'm focusing on the positives right now and almost everyone in the line up will be back and together for an entire year!  That is scary!!!! #moreexclamationpoints

5.  The Yankees series that just finished was the most exciting baseball as a Jays fan that i've watched in 20 years!  It's obvious to say that it was the most important since 93, but those three games were just awesome to watch!  The crowd, the drama, the back and forth between both teams just made for it to be an amazing three game set.

5 Thoughts from a Guy who likes Blue Jays baseball! Month end edition!

Well August was fun!  21-6 is INSANE!  I remember back in June trying to figure out how the Blue Jays could possibly get to 90 wins this season and it pretty much seemed impossible!  Well here we are now September 1st and the Blue Jays only have to play 1 game over .500 to get to 90 wins.  #MINDBLOWN

5 Thoughts on the month that was.....Here we go!

1.  Edwin Encarnacion spent August looking like a guy who plays Men's League Softball for a living!  Seriously!  Average over .400, 26 Game hit streak, 35RBI, .911 Slg, 1.378 ops.  .483 obp.  Those are video game numbers!

2. Just on Monday the Blue Jays made it official and signed current Cleveland Indians President Mark Shapiro to become the New President and CEO of the Blue Jays starting after the contract of current CEO Paul Beeston expires.   To say that I really know Mark Shapiro more than the guy who in Moneyball wouldn't trade Billy Beane Ricardo Rincon would be a lie, but from what I've read he seems well respected, has a good business acumen and has done almost everything within a baseball organization.    That being said he has his work cut out for him over the next little while, and from what I can tell most of it would seem to be outside of the day to day baseball operations, however I hope his 1st order of business is to sign Alex Anthopoulos to an extension.

3.  Ryan Goins has been something else this August.  Not only has he played some unreal defense, but his bat and his patience have really started to come around.  Now i'm not saying that you go out and Trade Devon Travis this offseason, but if Goins can be the guy his is right now and with the lineup the way it's built next year, i'm not sure you even need Travis's bat anymore.

4.  Gotta give some love to the Jays for bringing their road record back to only 2 games under .500 for the year!  Boys were looking lost on the road for a good part of the year on the road, but the renewed focus over the course of the month has brought them back to respectability on the road.  Oh! Also gotta give credit to the Blue Uni's on the road!

5.  Cheers to all the Fans out in Blue Jays Nation!  This last month and a bit has been such a ride in the city/country and the energy that has been created by Blue Jays fans old and new alike has been something that I haven't seen in my lifetime.  You can't go anywhere in the GTA without seeing some sort of Blue Jays gear and it's god damn glorious!  I only hope Rogers Communications is taking serious notice.  #ifyoubuildit
